Sunday - It's the big Bilic test!
Is he the real deal without Payet?

Is Bilic a genius or has found himself with the Maradona of the Premier league in his squad??

Can lanzini step up and be the new Payet?

Will he still play the most immobile striker in world football (Caroll) against the youngest, most agile team in the league?

Answers on a postcard please...

I'll answer my own thread now:

No

Yes

Fuck me. Billic put the fags and the guitar down and focus please. Once is a mistake, twice is ignorant, three times and you really are having a laugh.

I'll be very disappointed if Andy Carroll starts the game. Is Sakho fit?

Some proper little girls on this thread ... It's only a light hearted question.. Damn!

I personally think Payet is the best performing player in the league. I really do. put all bias aside I've never enjoyed watching a player as much as him since Henry at Arsenal. Everyone looks for goals as the be all and end all for being the best footballer. But if you look at Zidane, Tigana or Socrates and Maradona you see it's about more than goals.

That type of player dictates a game and is unpredictable. That's payet this year. He's leaving players for dust. Doing crazy shit and opening up things where he has no right to. He also makes everyone else start playing well and doing tricks like their all Brazilians!

I'm hoping I'm wrong and it's Bilic and his tactical nous. But payet is different gravy and had he been 24 and not 28 he'd be at Barcelona. He's that good. Look at pedro and fabergas at the moment. Couldn't even tie this guys boots this season. Payet is incredible.

If he picks up where he left off before the injury I guarantee either Barcelona, Madrid or Bayern will bid for him.

It's one thing to do stuff in France but just like drogba, Giroud etc .. When you start doing it in a league like the prem people start to take notice.

For what it's worth I think Bilic is great and I hope we batter then on Sunday!

Seems every game there is a thread in the same vein, "must win", "big test" etc etc

Every game is important, so what Payet is missing, big loss but not a defining point in our season IMO, we will adapt, other players will step up, its a team game not about individuals

Tex/Vexed...

I agree on reflection maybe we'd gone as far as we could under Sam especially given the fans and board's attitude towards him.

I'll give you promotion but momentum? Nah.

Plus my nan could have got us promoted with that squad.

SoA...

I'm sure you would agree BFS had taken us as far as he could...and we were going backwards in his last season...

Limits of Competence...fits BFS to a Tee...

other than promotion and continual forward momentum?

Yes but regularly dicking over Spurs was literally the only plus point in his time here.

I'll put my answers happily on a postcard. With the state of the Post Office, you'll get it next weekend.

Re: Sunday - It's the big Bilic test!
If we lose on Sunday I'll be calling for Bilic's dismissal because THIS is the big test.

I guess it means he was just lucky to be the first manager in my lifetime to beat Liverpool away purely because he lucked into buying Payet.

Obviously we've struggled along in the past with shit players like Tevez, Brooking, Bonds, Dicks, McAvennie, Cottee, Ashton, Pop Robson, Hartson, Devonshire, Slater, Lampard (both of them) Joe Cole, Rio, Liam Brady, Ray Stewart etc and literally hundreds of other players who never managed that feat.

Bilic out!

There's 11 men on the field of play, Payet is a great player but not the be all and end all.

This was the scene of his best performance for us as a player - one awful Monday night on a waterlogged pitch.

14-1 FGS Dani paid for my ticket

Would take the same again in a flash

Who will play instead of Payet then?

Re: Sunday - It's the big Bilic test!
Been impressed with Bilic so far...

Still room for improvement in defence...but we have had quite a few injuries at CB so unsettled CB pairing...

Also his very open creative MF approach has not worked well at home...

If he can sort out our relatively less impressive home performances we will continue to fit into the Top 6 category...

Payet will be a big miss for us...how Bilic reorganizes to compensate will be a big test for him and the squad...

Well done so far...keep up the good work...

COYI...!!!

If Bilic doesn't beat Spurs with no recognized forwards playing then he is not a patch on Allardyce.
